Teaching Repertoire:
Davey Music tutors make use of three main collections of traditional Irish tunes, with a combined total of 300 tunes. Each collection is appropriate to a different level of student proficiency:
- Introductory Collection: 80 tunes covering complete beginner level onwards. This collection introduces the student to easy airs, marches, Belfast street songs, hymn tunes, O’Carolan pieces and polkas, so that the beginner can quickly develop a varied and stimulating repertoire. The collection concludes with some straightforward reels, jigs and hornpipes as a taster of what lies ahead in later collections. The Davey Music Introductory collection caters for students who are preparing for the LCM Preliminary and Grade 2 examinations.

- Intermediate Collection: 140 tunes covering intermediate level onwards. This extensive collection presents a wide variety of many types of traditional Irish dance tunes including reels, jigs, hornpipes, slides, polkas, set dances, marches and more, and also introduces a number of slow airs. The collection includes both easier and more demanding examples of all the dance tune types covered, and will stimulate the student towards further development of their repertoire and playing technique. The Davey Music Intermediate collection caters for students who are preparing for the LCM Grade 4 and Grade 6 examinations.

- Advanced Collection: 80 tunes for the advanced student. This collection presents a more demanding selection of many types of traditional Irish dance tunes including many multi-part reels, jigs, hornpipes and more, and also includes a number of more challenging slow airs. The collection includes sets of three and even four tunes, and will further stimulate the student in the development of their repertoire and playing technique. The Davey Music Advanced collection caters for students who are preparing for the LCM Grade 8 and DipLCM examinations.
