Lesson Material:
The main Davey Music collections are presented to the student using high-quality laser printouts in polypockets, which makes them attractive, easy to read and durable. Music is clearly laid-out and the Introductory and Intermediate collections also give the note names under the notes as an aid to those students who are developing their skills in reading music. All collections include suggested guitar chords above each tune. Students are provided with a ring binder for convenient management of collections, as this has proven to be the most effective means of keeping music intact!
All collections come with CD recordings of the music, and students are always encouraged to make use of these recordings as an aid to practice and to facilitate advance preparation for future lessons. Experience has shown that those students who make use of their CD recordings will make progress more quickly, as this is an effective means of developing the student’s natural awareness of the sounds and styles of traditional Irish music.
In addition to their music collection(s), students will also be supplied with:
- A Lesson Record sheet, which the tutor completes at the end of each lesson
- A Personal Repertoire sheet, which allows both student and tutor to instantly see which tunes have been taught – this has proven to be a great aid to exam preparation and also gives the student an encouraging indication of progress
- A Finger Chart (where appropriate)
